First Images of an Intel Z790 Motherboard Emerge

The first know picture of an Intel Z790 motherboard has been posted on the Overclock.net forums by Roberto Sampaio. The motherboard in question is the ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Extreme, which of course is ASUS’s enthusiast flagship board. Compared to the Z690 version the design language is very much the same, with some slight changes. We can see that the board will still have the LiveDash OLED display.

Roberto was doing some initial overclocking with the board and the upcoming Intel Core i9-13900K. He claims that the CPU does not really consume 300W – 400W while overclocked. The CPU will go up to 200W stock at full load and 250W with overclocking. To prove this face he is actually using a pretty cheap air cooler that is able to keep the CPU under 90 °C. Here is what he had to say about the chip and board…

I’m testing The z790 and 13900k and I can tell you… 12900KS is a kid comparing to the 13900k…

But I’ll tell you… I’m not good overclocking memories…

The CPU hit 6.5GHz single core at very light load.
Full load, so far, P-5.7GHz E-4.4GHz R-5.0GHz.
I started testing Yesterday…
The M-Z790 Extreme is very solid so far…

On top of this Roberto posted screenshots of some initial AIDA64 benchmarks using the ADATA XPG Lancer RGB 32GB DDR5-6000 CL40 memory kit.
