A Look Inside the Fractal Design Summit Case

With the main side panel of the case removed we can take a look inside the Summit. It has a very standard 2-compartment design with a full-length power supply cover separating the two compartments.

Taking a closer look at our motherboard tray we have support for mini-ITX, micro-ATX, ATX, and E-ATX motherboards up to 277mm. There is also back-connect motherboard support for ATX and micro-ATX motherboards. There are a handful of cable-routing holes around the motherboard tray with the main one having a rubber insert installed. Another noticeable feature is a built-in graphics card support bracket. This bracket can easily be adjusted up or down and the arm itself can be angled to support longer or shorter graphics cards. This case does have support for graphics cards as long as 425mm and CPU coolers as tall as 173mm.

Looking towards the front of the case we can see our three pre-installed Momentum 14 fans. We can also see that Fractal is making use of an air guide that is made to direct incoming air on to your GPU. The power supply cover does have ventilation for your power supply and there is a long cable routing hole too. Looking at our expansion slot covers they do make use of thumbscrews, which is nice to see.

Removing the opposite side panel we can get a look at the rest of the case. The first thing that stands out to me are the storage brackets. These are not trays, but actually brackets with a two piece design and if you are wondering they are made of metal. Each bracket supports either a single 3.5-inch hard drive or two 2.5-inch SSDs. There are also two 2.5-inch SSD mounts in the bottom of the case towards the front. So in total you can install a total of 6 drives in this case out of the box.

Fractal Design is making use of their cable aligners towards the front of the case. These are essentially plastic cable organizers which clip into the back of the case, they can be adjusted depending on how many cables you are trying to organize with them.

At the bottom of the case we have our power supply mount, which will support power supplies as long as 253mm. Looking at the cables that are coming from the top of the case it is worth noting that we do not have a standard motherboard connector, but rather just a power switch, and power LED header connectors.
