Futuremark Putting Final Touches On 3DMark TimeSpy Extreme Benchmark

Futuremark is getting ready to add another benchmark to their 3DMark benchmarking suite. It is “TimeSpy Extreme”, which will test your graphics card’s performance at 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) resolution with the latest DirectX 12 API. You’ll need a graphics card with at least 4 GB of video memory to run the test.

This benchmark is made for the best graphics cards available, but is also designed to take advantage of today’s multi-core processors. 3DMark “TimeSpy Extreme” is made to take advantage of processors with 8 or more CPU cores and will benefit from the processors supporting the modern AVX2 instruction-set. Futuremark tells us that this test is 3 times more demanding than the original TimeSpy benchmark.

They also said they developed the new benchmark while taking input from AMD, NVIDIA, and Intel. The benchmark will launch October 11th as an update.
