Gigabyte Releases Beta BIOS Enabling Overclocking on H87 and B85 Motherboards

ASRock was first then they were followed by ECS and now it looks like Gigabyte is joining the bunch by releasing a beta BIOS for its socket LGA1150 motherboards that are based on the H87 and B85 chipsets that will allow overclocking of Intel’s Core Haswell K-Series processors. Normally if you would want to overclock your K-Series CPU you would have to buy a Z87 motherboard, but with Gigabyte’s new beta BIOS you do not have to!

The BIOS’s that remove the overclocking limitation are marked beta and typically feature the version number “FXc” with a change-log entry reading “enables K SKU CPU multiplier”. Once you have the BIOS installed you can overclock your K-series Haswell chips by changing the base-clock multipliers.
