Hollyland Lark M1 Wireless Microphone System Review

Final Thoughts

These wireless microphone systems have become extremely popular over the past couple of years and I think any content creator should have one in their kit. The question is which one? Well Hollyland makes a very good argument to pick up the Lark M1 over other wireless microphone systems.

I think the most important thing with the Lark M1 is how easy it is to use. As soon as you open the charging case up and remove the microphones and receiver they instantly pair! No more forgetting to turn the microphone on or anything like that. This ease of use really make this a great run-and-gun setup. We used Hopllyland’s Lark C1 to do interviews at CES and it worked so great and we did not waste time setting things up etc. The charging case is great as well. Not only does it make it easy for you to charge everything, it also has a built-in battery so if you are at a location that does not have power you can still charge everything up!

Hollyland includes everything you need to get the Lark M1 up and running, including not only a normal 3.5mm cable, but also a TRSS cable for mobile devices. Plan to use this with a mobile device that does not have a microphone jack? Hollyland does sell 3.5mm to USB-C and 3.5mm to Lighting for newer mobile devices. So not only is the Lark M1 made specifically for cameras, but you can use it with a plethora of other devices. You are also going to get a hard-shell carrying case which makes traveling with the Lark M1 so easy.

When it comes to audio quality you aren’t going to be disappointed either as we were very impressed, especially considering how small the microphones are. Having a microphone directly connected to your subject instead of using a shotgun or on-camera microphone allows for better audio pickup and cuts down on sounds around you. This is ideal for doing interviews and being in crowded places where you can’t control the environment.

If there was anything missing from the Lark M1 is that the microphone’s don’t have a 3.5mm connection on them for you to attach a lavalier microphone. The microphones have that blue LED on them and can be distracting to the viewer and with a lavalier microphone you can really hide it under your subjects shirt. My Rode Wireless Go has this capability and I use a lavalier microphone almost exclusively with it.

Right now you can pick up the Lark M1 at our favorite online retailer for $116, which is a great deal! Overall ThinkComputers gives the Hollyland Lark M1 Wireless Microphone System a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
