Overview
The Icy Dock MB994SP-4S has a solid aluminum chassis. It provides top-down protection should your case suddenly implode upon itself.
Each 2.5-inch hotswap bay is solid metal and again provides top-down protection, while also having its own SATA and power connector at the rear, which connect to the racks internal connectors. Each bay has adequate ventilation for your mechanical drives.
Measuring at 146mm x 41.3mm x 170mm (5.51 x 1.63 x 6.69 inches), it is the perfect fit for a 5.25 bay. The entire unit is a solid black construction, with warning labels on the top and sides and nothing to tarnish the appearance once installed.
The rear of the unit is where your power connections (2x Molex) and SATA connections reside. You can also see the two 40mm fans.
The MB994SP-4S comes with 8 screws to mount the rack to your computer chassis, though depending on the case you use you may not need to use all of them. It also comes with 16 smaller screws to mount your 2.5” drives within the individual hotswap bays.
When a drive is installed, green LEDs near the front of the unit light up, letting you know your drive is connected properly and receiving power.
