Testing & Final Thoughts on the MelGeek MADE68 Ultra Rapid Trigger Keyboard

So I did review the original MADE68 Pro back in 2024 and used it as my daily driver for quite some time. So it is safe to say that I was definitely expecting to enjoy the MADE68 Ultra. That of course is very true and with each new advancement with keyboard it seems once you use it you can’t go back. This happened to me when gaming keyboard starting using mechanical key switches, then it was the PBT keycaps, and now it is magnetic hall effect keyboards. I really don’t think I can go back to using a mechanical keyboard as a daily driver and especially as my main gaming keyboard.

Hall effect keyboards make use of magnetic key switches, which offer so much more customization compared to mechanical key switches. You can actually set your own actuation point for each key. This means that you can accurately set how far down a key is pressed before it is actuated. This leads to Rapid Trigger, which resets the switch when the key moves upwards after a keystroke. This allows you to release and repeatedly press keys more quickly. This also gives you the ability to have Dynamic Keystroke (DKS). This allows you to set multiple actions for a single keystroke depending on how far you press it down and how much you let it come back up. This has evolved into Snap Tap. On a normal gaming keyboard if you press A and D at the same time it will not register anything, which causes you to stop in-game. You have to essentially let go of one of the keys for the other to be registered. With Snap Tap it will register the last input as the priority, so you could still be pressing down A then quickly press D and it will register that as movement. This allows for more responsive counter-strafing in fast-paced FPS games. While many magnetic switch keyboards allow you to set your own actuation point, not all have Rapid Trigger, Dynamic Keystroke, or Snap Tap. The fact that this keyboard has everything is quite impressive!

Now if you are wondering what this keyboard actually sounds like to type on, here is a sound test…

Beyond all of the features that magnetic switches give you, MelGeek has also outfitted this keyboard with premium materials. So first the entire chassis is made of aluminum. This gives this keyboard a really premium feel and makes it quite heavy! On each side you have accent pieces that are made of carbon fiber and MelGeek has gone with PBT keycaps here so you aren’t going to see any shine or wear on the keycaps. I also really like that we get three unique colorways and for a prebuilt keyboard they look great! The light bar on the top edge of the keyboard really makes the keyboard stand out as well.
