MetallicGear Neo Case Review

A Look Inside
Getting inside the MetallicGear Neo is quite easy, just remove the four screws on the side panel and pull it off. Taking a look inside we can see that the case is sectioned off into two main compartments. MetallicGear tells us that there is room inside for ATX motherboards, CPU coolers as tall as 170 mm and graphics cards as long as 360 mm.

Starting at the front of the case we have two included 120 mm fans. You can fit up to two 140 mm fans here as well as radiators up to 280 mm. The two 120 mm fans are the only ones included with the case.

As I mentioned this case supports ATX motherboards and there are plenty of cable routing holes on the motherboard tray as well as in the power supply cover. The power supply cover runs the entire length of the case.

The seven expansion slot covers use thumbscrews, which will definitely save you time if you plan on switching out hardware.

The rear side panel of the case comes off just as easily as the main one. Once removed we can see how the rest of the case is setup. The main thing that caught my attention was the two SSD trays that are attached to the back of the motherboard tray. These are easily removable. While only two are included there is room for a third, which Phanteks does sell.

You’ll notice a small thumbscrew on the left side, this releases a door which reveals a hidden cable management channel. Basically you’ll run all of your cables through this channel. There is a single velcro tie in the channel, but there are a few tie-down spots for zip ties as well.

The bottom of the case is where you’ll mount your power supply and towards the front of the case there is a hard drive cage. This case supports power supplies up to 195 mm in length.

The front of the case actually easily pulls off, just lift up from the bottom and it will come right off. With it removed we can easily access the front two fans if we wanted to remove or clean them.

The hard drive case is also accessed from the front of the case. It has two removable trays, which support both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch hard drives.
