Minisforum Launches Palm-Sized Mini PC With Up To Core i9-13900H & dGPU Support At $549

Closing out 2023, Minisforum unveils three significant revelations, featuring the MS-01 Mini Workstation, EM780 Mini PC, and V3 Tablet. The MS-01 marks the company’s first Mini Workstation, boasting robust I/O and expansion features in a compact design, with prices starting at $549 US.

The Minisforum MS-01 Mini WorkStation will come in two configurations, featuring either the Intel Core i9-13900H or the Core i9-12900H CPU. Expect impressive processor performance with 14 cores, 20 threads, and clock speeds reaching up to 5.4 GHz. It supports up to 64 GB of DDR5-5200 speed memory and offers robust storage options, including three M.2 slots (4.0×4/3.0×4/3.0×2) supporting up to 2 TB each and a U.2 NVMe SSD slot for capacities up to 24 TB.

A key feature of the Minisforum MS-01 Mini WorkStation PC is its dGPU support, facilitated by a PCIe 4.0 x8 expansion slot capable of accommodating up to an NVIDIA RTX A2000 GPU. While the slot may support other cards, their compatibility could be constrained by the available power capabilities of the PC.

The Minisforum MS-01 Mini WorkStation excels in I/O and connectivity, featuring two 10 Gbps SFP+ ports, two 2.5 GbE LAN ports, and two USB4 ports supporting up to 40 Gbps for eGPUs. It also accommodates Thunderbolt networking bridges with speeds up to 20 Gbps. Additional I/O comprises two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports, two USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports, two USB 2.0 ports, a single HDMI port, and a 3.5mm audio combo jack.

Regarding the cooling system, the Minisforum MS-01 WorkStation incorporates a cooling capability of up to 80W for the CPU, provided by a heatsink with U-shaped heatpipes and an active fan cooler. The SSDs in the PC benefit from an active-cooled solution, expelling hot air from the chassis to maintain optimal temperatures for the NVMe devices.

Apart from the MS-01 Mini WorkStation, the Minisforum EM780 PC featuring the AMD Ryzen 7 7840U will be available for pre-sales next week. Additionally, the pre-show for the V3 3-in-1 tablet, utilizing AMD’s latest Ryzen 8040 “Hawk Point” APUs, is also set to begin.
