Final Thoughts on the MSI MPG B850 EDGE TI WIFI Motherboard

This review comes at an interesting time as we all know about the memory shortage and the cost of DDR5 right now. With high prices and your budget in mind considering a B850 motherboard over an X870 or X870E motherboard is really not a bad idea at all. The MSI MPG B850 EDGE TI WIFI has a solid feature-set that I feel most people will appreciate.

And if you actually look at that feature-set there are only a few things this motherboard does not have that you would find in an X870 / X870E motherboard. Those stand-out things would be not as many PCI-Express 5.0 / 4.0 M.2 slots and no USB4. Beyond that there really is not much missing here. So you still get PCI-Express 5.0 support for your graphics card and first M.2 slot, there is still USB 3.2 gen 2×2 support (via front header), and the 14+2+1 power phase design will handle modern AMD processors no problem.

On top of that this board does feel quite modern with its sleek design, tool-less features, and connectivity. Talking about the sleek design I really feel MSI killed it on this board with the white PCB with white and silver accents and the little bit of RGB lighting on the rear I/O cover. If you are doing a white-themed build this board is going to look excellent. Your top M.2 slot features a tool-less heatsink and all of the M.2 slots feature tool-less installation of your M.2 drives. Even though you are not getting USB 3.2 gen 2×2 connectivity on the back of the board you still get three USB 3.2 gen 2 Type-C ports which was really nice to see and you can’t forget the dedicated Flash BIOS and Clear CMOS buttons on the rear I/O either. There is also full-bandwidth WiFi 7 and 5G Ethernet. Talking about modern this motherboard makes use of the newer Click BIOS X from MSI, which is really refreshing to see.

Right now you can pick this board up at our favorite online retailer for $302.99, which does seem a bit high considering other B850 offerings right now. Overall ThinkComputers gives the MSI MPG B850 EDGE TI WIFI Motherboard an 8 out of 10 score.
