MSI Spatium M480 Play Gen4 NVMe Solid State Drive Review

We mainly know MSI for their graphics cards and motherboards, but did you know they have a full line of NVMe M.2 drives? Sitting as their new flagship Gen4 NVMe solid state drive is the Spatium M480 Play. This drive features Phison’s E18 controller teamed with Micron 176-layer 3D TLC NAND and all covered with a very attractive heatsink. With this combination MSI says this drive will pack read speeds up to 7000 MB/s and write speeds up to 6800 MB/s. This drive is also 100% compatible with PlayStation 5 for those looking to add more storage. Let’s take a look and see what this drive can do!

The Spatium M480 Play comes in a nice retail box. On the front there is a picture of the drive and it lets us know the capacity and speed. We recevied the 2TB version but MSI also offers the drive in 500GB, 1TB, and 4TB versions.
