This is great news for all of those BioShock lovers out there! 2K Games has confirmed that a new BioShock game is under development and that they have set up a brand new studio, “Cloud Chamber” who will be creating the game. Cloud Chamber will have offices both in Montreal and San Francisco. Appointed as head of the studio is Kelley Gilmore, who has been attached to Firaxis Studios and worked in other 2K franchises such as XCOM and Sid Meier’s Civilization.
Cloud Chamber studio opens its doors with “a deeply experienced group of game makers, including many responsible for BioShock’s principal creation, advancement and longstanding notoriety.” We really don’t know much more than that, but if you are a BioShock fan this is definitely good news!
David Ismaier, 2K President, said:
“As we continue growing our product portfolio, we remain inspired by opportunities to invest further in our valuable IP, great people and their collective, long-term potential. BioShock is one of the most beloved, critically praised and highest-rated franchises of the last console generation. We can’t wait to see where its powerful narrative and iconic, first-person shooter gameplay head in the future with our new studio team at Cloud Chamber leading the charge.”
