NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880 Benchmark Surfaces

The alleged first benchmark of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880 has appeared online recently. The benchmark in question is 3DMark and the score is quite high. We cannot verify the authenticity of the below screenshot, but it does not appear to be doctored.

The screenshot shows the user is using a Core i7-4770K so we assume the video card is a desktop part, not a mobile variant. Looking at the score we can see that the card has a very impressive result of 6110. For reference the GTX 780 scores around 4500 in this test and the GTX 780 Ti around 5000. So if we compare to the GTX 780 this card has a 35-40% increase in performance in this specific test.

The guys over at VideoCardz zoomed in on the blurred part of the image and it looks like you can actually make out part of the GTX 880 name.

Another interesting thing about the post is that it says Gamescom. Could this possibly be the launch date for the GTX 880? Gamescom takes place in Germany between August 13 and 17th. And interestingly enough NVIDIA UK made this post on their Facebook page a few days ago. Will we see a GTX 880 launch a Gamescom? All signs at this point say yes!
