NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan Black Edition Spotted

The GeForce GTX Titan was introduced as the card which was the first of its kind to incorporate NVIDIA’s Kepler GK110 core of high performance but Titan has now been replaced by the ultimate GeForce GTX 780 Ti which is far more powerful. During the past few months, we have come across absolutely no news about the grand Titan and it was only mentioned where benchmarks were being tested and it was ruthlessly being surpassed by the Radeon R9 290X and R9 290.

A GTX Titan has been pointed out by Videocardz and it is said to be attached with black heatsink which has the matte finish to it and makes the entire thing look very appealing. The Titan cooler had been a hit since it was first introduced and this pretty much explains why it is still being put to use in the GeForce GTX 770, GeForce GTX 780 and the flagship GeForce GTX 780 Ti which are NVIDIA’s top graphic cards. It appears to be less noisy and this is one thing AMD still needs to achieve. There are possibilities that the black variant could only be a customized painted form of the card by some Chinese modder but the possibility of having a custom black edition GeForce GTX 780 Ti was stated by Videocardz. If true, this was supposed to be a faster version of the GeForce GTX 780 Ti with faster clock speeds and with a black cooler.

That was the last of what we heard about the card and it seems reasonable to think that if NVIDIA had been working on such a release, the Titan would have to face a major price cut since it wouldn’t have made sense to purchase it over the GTX 780 Ti unless the 6 GB VRAM was the only attraction. Since there have been no official announcements on the card, we are left to think that it was nothing but a modified version which was merely painted black.
