NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Founders Edition Leaked; Shows Dual Slot Design

Moore’s Law is Dead published a single image of an unannounced RTX 4070 class GPU. The fan blade design is similar to the RTX 4090/4080 series, and it appears to have a supersized diameter that extends into the frame, exactly like the higher-end series. Unlike the AD102/AD103 GPUs, this card looks to be significantly slimmer and only has two slots.

NVIDIA revealed that only the Founders Edition RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 16GB would be available, with the RTX 4080 12GB being a board partner exclusive SKU. Surprisingly, both the RTX 4080 12GB and the RTX 4070 are likely to feature the same GPU, Ada AD104.

The design, which might include a V-shaped PCB, would be different from the Ampere RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3070 GPUs, which featured a simple rectangular board design that was eventually adopted by several board partners.

Intriguingly, we are seeing this leak right now as, according to the most recent speculations, the release of the RTX 4070 has been delayed until early in the first quarter of 2023. However, NVIDIA has revised the specs and timeframe for its RTX GPUs several times, so no one would be surprised if a scaled-down AD104 GPU appeared in late Q4.
