NVIDIA Makes RTX 30-Series LHR Lineup Official

We’ve been hearing quite a lot about the upcoming “lite hash rate” (LHR) graphics cards over the past few weeks. Well today NVIDIA has made it official and posted up a blog to announce the new revised lineup of RTX 30-series graphics cards which start with the RTX 3060 and go all the way up to the RTX 3080. All of these cards will now ship with a new silicon revision. This new silicon will effectively half the graphics cards output in Ethereum mining.

NVIDIA has also clarified that its partners will clearly be labeling their graphics cards with stickers that will let consumers know that they are “LHR” cards. These will be on both the box as well as the card itself.

It looks like time will only tell if this mitigation by NVIDIA will solve the massive GPU shortage, scalpers, and insane prices that we’ve seen over the past few months. We could see the non-LHR cards still being sold at insane prices, while the LHR cards would remain near MSRP.
