Often times we receive several items at the same time that a manufacturer would like us to review. Typically this occurs when a new line of products has been released or a major update has been done and today is exactly that. With the introduction of their CAM software, NZXT has released an updated version of most of their products featuring this new connectivity. Today we’ll be taking a close look at NZXT’s newest 120mm AIO, the Kraken X31. NZXT has some notoriously well loved and great performing coolers in their armory, let’s find out if their newest, smallest offering lives up to those same standards.
The X31 will show up on your doorstep wrapped in shrink wrap in a vivid white, black, and blue box. This theme features very modern matte colors and a classy layout of information and pictures. The same style is featured on all the recent NZXT products we’ve reviewed and we approve. The front of the box features a white background with the X31 featured front and center. In the upper right corner is the product name, a designation stating “For Intel & AMD”, and a product feature. Finally on the bottom is a black bar advertising their 6 year warranty.
Moving right we find the technical specifications as listed above in this review. Right again we find the product description listed in 7 languages. One more turn presents a graph with NZXT performance results as well as a full compatibility listing. Finally we come to what is effectively the back of the box. Here we are presented with a full feature list as well as a screenshot of the CAM software and a final photo of the X31 with the base of the pump presented.
Popping the top of the box, we find our cooler and accessories all secured in a cardboard molded carton. On the very top is a thin installation guide. Taking the product out we find the pump and some of the tubing enclosed in a plastic bag. The base of the pump is protected by a plastic dish while the radiator is enclosed in a cardboard sheath. Also enclosed in cardboard is the single included 120mm fan. Overall this level of packaging is exceptional, and is quickly becoming the standard in order to ensure the safe transportation of AIO’s.
