OCZ Blade Series DDR3-2000 6GB Low Voltage Triple Channel Memory Kit Review

A Closer Look

The memory runs at DDR3-2000 7-8-7-20, utilizing Intel’s mandatory VDIMM of 1.65v. The kit consists of three 2GB modules giving us 6 gigs of high-speed memory goodness. Of course, to enjoy more than around 3 gigs of memory, a 64-bit operating system must be used.

The Blade heatspreaders are matte black. The raised OCZ logo looks sharp, unfortunately I couldn’t portray that in a photo. The PCBs are also black, for those guys that hate green. The PCBs seem particularly thick.

The heatspreaders provide additional cooling of those hot memory chips by an array of fins at the top of the module. Nothing radical like OCZ’s Reaper or ReaperX, nor extremely tall which could conflict with some CPU coolers. Besides the 24 fins, the area under the fins is open, allowing air to flow in, around, and under the fin array.
