Patriot Viper VP4100 Overview
Taking a first look at the Viper VP4100 it is your standard M.2 2280 (80 mm) solid state drive. It does however have an all black heatsink installed on it that has a large Viper logo.
The heatsink is there to obviously help keep the drive cool, but it is definitely not the largest heatsink we’ve seen a on an M.2 drive. For those wondering the official dimensions of the drive are 3.15″(L) x 0.87″(W) x 0.31″(H), which means you really shouldn’t run into any clearance issues with a graphics card or other parts of your motherboard.
Under this heatsink is the Phison PS5016-E16 controller, two Toshiba 96-layer 3D TLC NAND chips, and a SK Hynix 512MB cache chip.
This is a two-sided drive so on the back of the drive you two more NAND chips, and another 512MB cache chip.
