When you install the Patriot Viper VPR100 and turn your PC on it will light up with RGB lighting, but in order to control it you’ll need to install the Viper RGB app. The app is pretty straight-forward you have a drop-down list of effects and you can individually select the 5 RGB sections by checking the big open boxes. You can also set the brightness and speed.
As far as effects go you have Dark (RGB off), Breathing, Viper, Heartbeat, Marquee, Raindrop, Aurora, and Neon.
As far as the RGB lighting goes I have to say it is better than I thought it would be. Who would think some simple RGBs would make an M.2 drive pop this much, but they really do!
Patriot says that the Viper VPR100 is compatible with ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, and ASRock RGB software. We tested it with Gigabyte’s RGB Fusion and the drive showed up no problem and we were able to control the RGB LEDs.
