It looks like 2017 could be a big year for AMD. Two new GPUs that we haven’t heard of have been spotted. When looking up a hex file taken from macOS Sierra drivers, Anandtech forum user Glo found mentions of two new GPUs, Polaris 10 XT2 and Polaris 12. These could very well be a revision of AMD’s Polaris 10 architecture or a totally different chip from the already released Polaris 11 and Polaris 10.
We also see Vega 10 in there, which makes us believe the reports of an early 2017 release are true. It is interesting that all three of these GPUs are mentioned in the same hex dump. This could mean that AMD is working on a new line of 500 series GPUs for 2017. To see this already from AMD is no surprise, with all the hype behind their Zen launch, having a GPU line to compliment it would be a good thing.
