Razer Huntsman Elite Gaming Keyboard Review

Software & Lighting

They keyboard will work no problem without software, but if you want to do any type of customization you’ll need to download Razer’s Synapse 3.0 software. This software does require an account to use, but your data is saved in the cloud so you can login on another machine and have all of your settings. When you open up Synapse you’ll see all of your Razer devices listed, you should see the Huntsman Elite there. Clicking on the icon you go into the “Customize” tab for the keyboard. Here you are giving a full overview of the keyboard and you can set which keys are disabled during Gaming Mode.

By clicking any button on the keyboard you can remap that selected key. You have the ability to set each key to a keyboard function, mouse function, macro, inter-device, switch profile, switch lighting, Razer Hypershift, Launch a program, multimedia, Windows shortcuts, Text Function, or completely disable the key. This is actually how you program the dial on the top corner of the keyboard. Just select it and you can set what moving it up or down does.

Moving over to the Lighting tab we can adjust the brightness and set a quick effect. We can also set the lights to turn off when you turn your monitor off or when you are idle for a certain amount of time. For those looking for more advanced lighting settings you can go intro Chroma Studio.

As far as lighting goes you have full per-key RGB lighting as well as lighting around the entire keyboard (wrist rest included). The lighting is superb and looks great.
