Rosewill Tachyon 750W Power Supply Review

Final Thoughts
Many people overlook Rosewill, they are Newegg’s house brand so people write them off as cheap, but in actuality they rebrand a lot of the same products other bigger name companies do. For example the Tachyon 750W power supply that we took a look at today is a rebranded Super Flower SF-750P14PE. Both the AZZA Platinum 750W and the Kingwin Lazer Platinum 750W are also based off this model. So all three power supplies are identical inside.

With that in mind when we talk about performance we are very impressed. Voltage regulation on this unit was great, the only rail that even went over 1% was the 3.3V rail. Both the 5V and 12V rails stayed under 1%, which means you will have very good power delivery to all of your components. For those interested the voltage regulation for the 3.3V, 5V and 12V rails were 1.48%, 0.78% and 0.82% respectively. On top of good voltage regulation this power supply is also 80 PLUS Platinum certified that means you are going to have 92% efficiency at 50% load and 89% efficiency at 100% load.

When it comes to design Rosewill has gone pretty boring on this power supply, but to many people that really does not matter, especially if you do not have a window in your case that will show your power supply. It is just going to sit in your case and do its job, and a very good job it does. The unit is semi-modular so besides the cables that are attached you only need to attach the cables that are needed for your build. This means you will have less cable mess in your system. Rosewill has also supplied dust covers for the modular connections on the unit.

Right now you can pick up the Tachyon 750W unit for $159.99 and a $30 MIR which makes it $129.99, which is really impressive. At the end of the day if you want a reliable no frills power supply that gets the job done then this is it. Rosewill also backs it with a 7 year warranty. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Rosewill Tachyon 750W Power Supply a 9 out of 10 score.
