Sabrent NVMe M.2 to PCI-Express Adapter Card Review

Testing & Performance

Since this is just an adapter there really is not much to test, but I did want to compare the speeds of the Lexar NM700 used with and without the adapter. We will start with CrystalDiskMark. Results without the adapter are on the left while results with the adapter are on the right.

As you can see we lost a slight bit of performance in our read speed using the adapter, but our write speed was much better using the adapter. So we’ll call that one a draw. Now on to ATTO Disk Benchmark. Again results without the adapter are on the left while results with the adapter are on the right.

Here we can see the drive definitely performing better inside the adapter. This is because it is not thermally throttling thanks to the heatsink on the adapter. Not using the adapter we saw the drive get all the way up to 89C, but using the adapter our max temperature was 60C!
