Scythe Ashura CPU Cooler Review

Scythe Ashura Overview
The Scythe Ashura is your typical single tower heatsink. Its official dimensions are 145 x 65 x 161 mm, which means you should have more than enough clearance on most systems.

Scythe has included their own GlideStream 140 PWM fan with this cooler. The fan has a speed of 500 ± 300 rpm to 1300 rpm ± 10%, air flow of 37.37 to 97.18 CFM, and static pressure of 0.15 ~ 1.02 mmH²O. The fan is of course PWM regulated.

Taking a look at the cooler from the side we can see just how thick the heatsink tower is and that the fan attaches via fan clips. You can actually install the fan on the front or the back of the cooler, and Scythe includes an extra set of fan clips if you wanted to install two fans.

Moving over to the backside of the cooler we can see how the individual aluminum fins are designed. You can also see the six heatpipes that come up from the base into the heatsink tower.

Scythe has put a cool black brushed aluminum top on the cooler with the Scythe logo. This will obviously be visible if you have a case window. Also you can see the arrows on the fan here, these tell you the airflow direction, which is always helpful.

The base of the cooler is quite thick and made of nickel-plated copper. There is actually sort of a mini-heatsink on the base. All six of the 6 mm heatpipes are made of copper and Scythe has kept their original color.

The base of the cooler has no obvious machining marks which means you will have flush and even contact with your CPU.
