Scythe Ashura CPU Cooler Review

Final Thoughts
There are many factors that I take into account when reviewing a CPU cooler. The biggest two are performance and ease of installation and the Scythe Ashura excels in both of those categories. First let’s talk about performance. The Ashura was at the top of the list in both our idle and load tests. It had comparable results to CPU coolers that are much larger and have more than one fan. This is quite impressive and speaks to the design and quality of the cooler itself.

Installation for an air cooler typically is really easy or just a pain in the ass and for the Ashura it was quite easy. I know that for most people they will only be installing their cooler once, but you still don’t want to one time to be an unpleasant experience. The instructions that came with the Ashura were very easy to understand and went step by step showing you how to get the cooler properly secured in your system. Installation took me no more than 10 minutes and I was taking my time!

The Ashura is a single tower cooler so it really does not get in the way of your RAM or VRM heatsinks, even with the fan installed. You really should not have any clearance issues at all. Also you should be able to install the cooler with your motherboard inside of your case.

As far as compatibility goes the Ashura fits all modern CPU sockets on both the AMD and Intel side, including the new Intel LGA2011v3. Scythe also includes extra fan clips if you happen to want to install a second fan on the cooler for even better performance.

Right now you can pick up the Ashura at my favorite online retailer for $52.32, which is a great price given its performance and how easy it is to install. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Scythe Ashura CPU Cooler a 9 out of 10 score.
