Scythe Mugen 5 Rev. C CPU Cooler Review

Final Thoughts

Once again Scythe proves that they belong in that top CPU cooler conversation. While the Mugen 5 Rev. C was sort of in the middle of the pack during our first load test, it actually came in 3rd in our second load test. This is going against much larger CPU cooler with dual tower and mostly two fans as well. It really shows that a single tower large heatsink and a single fan can definitely compete with dual-tower, dual-fan coolers. On top of that the single fan was not all that loud, sitting in the middle of the pack during our testing.

One thing that is really great about the single-tower design is that it makes the cooler quite easy to install. Our installation took less than 10 minutes and is one of the easiest installation processes we’ve done recently. Even though the cooler is larger than many thin single-tower coolers you can easily install it while your motherboard is mounted in your case. I actually had to do this as I forgot to take the plastic film off the base of the cooler on our initial install!

Another thing that Scythe has going for it with this cooler is price. Right now it is selling at our favorite online retailer for $56.99, which is far less expensive than many of the coolers it directly competes with. If you are looking for a high-end air cooler the Scythe Mugen 5 Rev. C should definitely be on your list! Overall ThinkComputers gives the Scythe Mugen 5 Rev. C CPU Cooler a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
