Installing the Scythe Shuriken 3 CPU Cooler
We will be installing the Shuriken 3 on an AMD X870 motherboard so this installation will be for the AM5 socket.
The first thing you are going to want to do is remove the AM5 mounting brackets that are on your motherboard. You will keep the backplate in place though.
After removing the AM5 mounting brackets from your motherboard you’ll want to install the included AMD mounting plates to the bottom of the cooler. These are labeled as AM4\AM5. These easily screw into the cooler with the supplied screws. After this you’ll want to apply the included thermal paste on your CPU, I was a bit disappointed to see the thermal paste in a packet rather than a syringe.

Carefully place the cooler on top of your CPU, lining up the holes on the AMD mounting plates with the holes in the AM5 backplate that you’ve left on your motherboard.

Now carefully thread the included screws through the back of the backplate and your motherboard. If you have things lined up correctly they will screw into the holes in the AMD mounting plates and secure your cooler.

With everything secured the last thing you need to do is plug in the fan to the CPU fan header on your motherboard. As you can see you won’t run into any clearance issues with memory, VRM, or M.2 heatsinks.
