We’ve already told you about the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, but AMD will also be releasing six new Ryzen models as part of their Spring 2022 update to compete with Intel’s 12th Generation Alder Lake processors. The new processors will include the Ryzen 7 5700X, Ryzen 5 5600, Ryzen 5 5500, Ryzen 4 4600G, Ryzen 5 4500, and Ryzen 3 4100.
The Ryzen 7 5700X is an 8-core, 16-thread processor with a base clock of 3.4 GHz and boost clock of 4.6 GHz. Unlike the Ryzen 7 5700G it will not have an integrated iGPU. Another thing to note is that it only has a TDP of 65W compared to the 105W of the 5800X. This obviously will have some effect on its boosting behavior and overclocking headroom. Even though its a 65W chip it will not ship with a cooler. Priced at $299 it will compete directly with the Intel Core i5-12600KF.
After that we have the Ryzen 5 5600 which is a 6-core, 12-thread processor and the natural successor to the Ryzen 5 3600. It is based on the same “Vermeer” MCM as the 5600X, but of course tones down clock speeds with a base clock of 3.5 GHz and boost clock of 4.4 GHz compared to the 3.7/4.6 GHz of the 5600X. Just like the 5600X the TDP is 65W and it will come with the Wraith Stealth cooler. Priced at $199 it will compete with the Core i5-12500.
Up next is the 6-core, 12-thread Ryzen 5 5500, which is actually based on the same “Cezanne” monolithic silicon as the Ryzen 5 5600G, but in this case the iGPU is disabled. So you have 16 MB of L3 cache that is shared across all cores. This processor will run at 3.6 GHz base and boost up to 4.2 GHz. Priced at $159 it will compete against the Core i5-12400F.
For the first time AMD is releasing Ryzen 4000 series desktop processors in the retail channel. All of these are based on the 7nm “Renoir” monolithic silicon, and feature “Zen 2” CPU cores. Starting at the bottom is the 4-core, 8-thread Ryzen 3 4100 at $99, then we have the 6-core, 12-thread Ryzen 5 4500, and then finally the 6-core, 12-thread Ryzen 5 4500G at $154. The Ryzen 5 4500G is a fully-fledged APU (with iGPU).
All of these processors will be available starting April 4th 2022, while you’ll have to wait till April 20th for the Ryzen 7 5800X3D.
