Sony made an announcement last week, stating that Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition will come with a full remaster of the original Marvel’s Spider-Man. Still, they didn’t consider to mention the fact that whether they will provide a smart delivery option that will allow the PS4 owners of the game to upgrade to the PS5 version for free.
Although Insomniac Games admitted that cross-gen saves won’t be possible, despite this the fans still hoped they wouldn’t have to double-tip to play the game.
Kotaku finally managed to get a statement from Sony. As per the statement, the only way to get Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered is to purchase Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition on PS5. If you purchase Morales on PS4, then you are eligible for a free upgrade to the PS5 version, but you will have to pay a small fee to get Spider-Man: Remastered.

“Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered is an enhanced version of Marvel’s Spider-Man, and is included as part of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition for the PlayStation 5. In addition, players who purchase Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PlayStation 4 can upgrade at no additional cost to the PS5 version of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and can take advantage of a paid-upgrade to download Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered.
There are no plans currently to offer Marvel’s-Spider-Man: Remastered as a standalone. Players with a copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4 can purchase Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition to experience Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered on PS5. Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4 also will be backwards compatible on PS5.
Owners of the Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales PS4 game disc can access [the free upgrade] offer by inserting the disc into their PS5 console. PS4 game disc owners who buy the PS5 Digital Edition disc-free console will not be able to access this offer.”
The above-mentioned upgrade is only applicable on the digital version of Spider-Man: Miles Morales for PS4.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales will launch for PS4 and PS5 on November 12 and November 19 depending on your region.
