SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless Gaming Mouse Review

SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless Overview

The Aerox 9 Wireless has the same design language as the rest of the SteelSeries Aerox line with its honeycomb-style frame. This obviously allows for the mouse to be pretty lightweight. As a reminder the Aerox 9 Wireless weighs in at 89g. In terms of size I would say it is a bit larger than your standard lightweight wireless gaming mouse, it is longer as well as taller than SteelSeries own Aerox 3 Wireless that we took a look at earlier this year.

As of right now SteelSeries is only offering the mouse in black, would love to see it in white though. The main body of the mouse has an open honeycomb design that actually goes all the way up into the buttons on the mouse. Through this design we can actually see our internal components. Don’t worry though the mouse offers an IP54 rating to provide water resistance and protection from dust, dirt, and more.

Starting at the top of the mouse we have our two main buttons, a rubberized scroll wheel, and small profile switch button. The buttons are powered by next-gen Golden Micro IP54 switches with an over 80M click durability. Unlike the Aerox 3 Wireless the buttons on this mouse sit more elevated off the surface and also sit an an angle sloping down towards the right. This combined with height of the mouse really lends this mouse to be used as a palm grip mouse. Both mouse buttons have a concave shape so your fingers sit on top of them nicely and won’t slide off. Right at the front of the mouse is a USB-C connection for charging the mouse and using it in wired mode with the included cable.

On the left side of the mouse we have a bank of 12 buttons! These buttons are grouped in 3 rows of 4 buttons each and each of the buttons are numbered. The number 5 button has a small marking on it so you can easily locate it by touch. On the opposite side of the mouse there are no buttons. Looking at the mouse from the side you do get a better idea of the overall frame design and slope of the mouse.

Flipping the mouse over you’ll find two large PTFE mouse feet, the sensor, and a small slider that allows you to switch between 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth modes for the mouse. This mouse features the TrueMove Air sensor which was co-developed with PixArt and features 18,000 DPI, 400 IPS, 40G acceleration and tilt tracking.
