SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7x Wireless Gaming Headset Review

Final Thoughts

After spending time with the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7x it is going to be my daily driver going forward. I think the biggest reason for that is the total control I have over inputs and outputs using the Sonar software. As I said the headset is a bit flat out of the box, but with the software you can really tune the headset to your liking. On top of that you have different outputs for Game, Media, and Chat. This way you can not only control the volume of these things independently, but how it all sounds. The Sonar software is extremely powerful and what really makes this headset stand out.

Obviously this is a gaming headset so how does it sound in games? The Sonar software has built-in presets for pretty much every popular game out there, on top of that the spatial audio allows you to easily identify enemies and I found it to be quite accurate in Apex Legends. On top of that unlike many headsets you can fine tune this in the software by adjusting how much immersion and distance.

One thing we haven’t talked about yet is comfort. It doesn’t matter how good a headset sounds or how many features it has, if it isn’t comfortable you aren’t going to use it. I’m happy to report that this headset is extremely comfortable. A lot of that has to do with SteelSeries designing this headset with the nylon suspension strap. I feel this puts less weight and stress on the top of your head. I was able to wear this headset for hours on end without having any strain on my head or around my ears. I never felt like I needed to take the headset off at any point because I was uncomfortable.

The built-in microphone on the headset is good, better than some, but you can definitely tell you are using a wireless gaming headset.

One of the best things about this headset is that it is going to work on pretty much any device. This includes PC, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, Meta Quest 2, and mobile. On top of that you get support for concurrent connections so you can use the 2.4 GHz dongle and have a Bluetooth device connected at the same time and listen to them both! So is awesome as you can be gaming and having a call at the same time. In the software you can even set it to either mute or reduce your game sound when a call comes in on Bluetooth, which is extremely convenient.

Right now you can pick up this headset at our favorite online retailer for $155, which is a great deal for what all this headset offers. Overall ThinkComputers gives the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7x Wireless Gaming Headset a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
