The Last of Us Part I Vulkan Mod Improves Performance And Fixes Crashing Issues

Players were eagerly anticipating the release of The Last of Us Part I on PC in the first few months of 2023. However, the excitement was short-lived as the port was found to be in a bad state. Although Naughty Dog is currently working on fixing the game, modders have stepped in and provided unofficial fixes that may enhance the game’s performance on certain system configurations.

Vulkan Mod is now available to download on Nexus Mods, and it enables users to run the game on Vulkan instead of DirectX 12. After installing the mod, the game will rebuild shaders, which may cause several crashes. However, once the process is complete, the game may run more smoothly and stably, as per reports from multiple users. Unfortunately, the mod is only compatible with NVIDIA GPUs, and DLSS is disabled, leaving AMD FSR as the only upscaling option.

It is regrettable that The Last of Us Part I was released in a problematic state on PC, as it is a superb remake that tells a compelling story, even though it lacks the original game’s multiplayer mode. This game is also one of the finest ways to immerse oneself in the world that was recently adapted into a successful TV series by HBO.
