The Last of Us Part II Remastered Is Out for PS5 Now – Will It Launch on PC?

Joel and Ellie are back! The Last of Us Part II Remastered just launched on the PlayStation 5, reviving the 2020 sequel in the celebrated post-apocalyptic game series by Naughty Dog. The original game was released back in 2013, with a full-fledged remake launching on PS5 in the fall of 2022. Just six months later, a PC version of the game was released. Now that Part II Remastered is out, PC gamers are desperate to find out if it too will receive the PC port. Here’s what we know.

The Last of Us Part II Was Remastered for PS5

The Last of Us by Naughty Dog is a revered game franchise that has been beloved by the community since the original game launched over a decade ago. In 2020, the sequel to the cherished original was released for PS4. Now, just four years later, a remastered version of The Last of Us Part II hit PlayStation’s online game store for PS5. The game’s visuals have been enhanced, but the biggest additions to the game are several game modes. No Return introduces a roguelike survival experience in which players fend off hordes of enemies, while a guitar free-play mode allows players to play more songs on the guitar. Additionally, the so-called Lost Levels showcase game levels that didn’t make it into the final game with commentary explaining why they ended up getting omitted.

A PC Launch Hasn’t Been Confirmed Yet

Will it also come to your desktop? Sony hasn’t made an official announcement thus far, so whether a PC port is in the works is merely speculation at this point. It does seem very likely, though, given Sony’s recent push into the PC gaming space. The Last of Us Part I, the remake of the first game, received a PC port in March 2023, six months after the PS5 version launched in September 2022. It has since received regular patches to improve performance and fix bugs on rigs with various GPUs. Other big Sony first-party titles have also made their way onto PCs. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered launched on consoles in 2020 with a PC release following in 2022. The Miles Morales spin-off has also been released on PC. Other flagship titles including God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure have also received the PC port treatment, further solidifying Sony’s push into the PC gaming realm. Given these developments, it is assumed that Sony will also bring The Last of Us Part II Remastered to PCs in the future.

Zombies Keep Walking

In the meantime, zombie fans can scratch their undead itch with tons of game titles from various genres on PC. The undead are a popular gaming theme, with numerous new installments continuously gracing gamers’ rigs. Anyone who hasn’t experienced the first The Last of Us, should play 2023’s Part I. With upgraded graphics and various accessibility options, this is the definitive version of the 2013 hit. However, there are plenty more zombie games on PC. One of the most celebrated is the Telltale Game series based on The Walking Dead. The Telltale games are story-driven graphic adventures with a unique art style and compelling narrative. With The Telltale Definitive Series, four seasons have been bundled and upgraded visually for an improved experience on PC.

The celebrated zombie series has also inspired the creation of various other games. With Saints & Sinners, the undead have walked into the VR space, while the creation of The Walking Dead online slots has brought them into the casino gaming space. Players can nowadays find a large selection of online platforms offering digital versions of classic casino games that can be played for real money on the web. Among the vast game libraries offered by the best-rated platforms with games depicting various topics, The Walking Dead online slots bring the popular undead onto the reels. More excellent zombie action has launched on PCs via last year’s Resident Evil 4 Remake, which brought the 2005 hit onto modern devices with a fresh layer of paint. Fans of the zombie apocalypse have many options to resurrect the undead as they wait for The Last of Us Part II to launch on PC.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered is out on PlayStation 5 now, giving fans of the franchise yet another chance to jump into the heart-wrenching post-apocalyptic zombie adventure. PC gamers will have to practice patience and wait until Sony announces a PC port.
