Thermaltake Announces MS-1 M.2-2280 SSD Cooler With Aluminium Heatsink

Thermaltake has unveiled the MS-1, a fan-heatsink cooler designed for M.2-2280 SSDs. The cooler features an extruded aluminum heatsink with a flattened copper heatpipe, enhancing heat dissipation by efficiently spreading heat from the controller.

Thermaltake provides a thermal pad intended for placement between the heatsink and the drive, addressing potential slight variations in Z-height between the controller, DRAM chip, and NAND flash chips. Additionally, a second thermal pad is included for components on the opposite side of the drive’s PCB, ensuring contact with the cooler’s “taco shell” backplate.

The heatsink is equipped with a small fan capable of reaching speeds of up to 8,000 RPM, generating 0.44 CFM of airflow with 1.6 mm H₂O static pressure and emitting a measured noise level of 16 dBA. Thermaltake rates the fan’s lifespan at 60,000 hours. Measuring 74 mm x 23 mm x 17.9 mm, the cooler is engineered to reduce interference in the CPU socket area. Pricing details have not been disclosed yet by the company.
