Thermaltake The Tower 500 Case Review

Thermaltake The Tower 500 Case Overview

Taking a first look at the Tower 500 you can see that we’ve received the black version of the case, but it is also available in a white or “snow” version. Now this is a pretty large case compared to a traditional mid-tower, but it is still much smaller than the Tower 900. The official dimensions are 608 x 388 x 398 mm so you are going to want to make sure this is going to fit on your desk.

As I mentioned this case is designed very much like the Tower 100 and Tower 900 cases. Many people call this the fish tank design as there is glass on 3 sides of this case. So on the front you have a large tempered glass panel, which is going to show off all of your hardware inside. Towards the bottom of the front of the case there is some ventilation where you can actually install two 120 mm fans.

Towards the top of the front of the case you’ll find a handful of connections and buttons. There are four USB 3.0 Type-A ports, a USB 3.2 Type-C port, headphone and microphone jacks, a large power button, and a smaller reset button.

The top of the case is all ventilated, if you press down on this ventilated section it sort of pops off to reveal the top section of the case. You can also pull the entire top part of the case off, this will give you better access to the top. The top of the case does support two 120/140 mm fans or radiators up to 280 mm. The entire top cooling section can be removed from the case so you can easily install your fans or radiator. The case actually has nine expansion slot covers so we can consider this case a full tower.

The sides of the case are essentially the same. The panel is half a window and half ventilation. All of the panels have a slight tint on them, but you should easily be able to see your hardware inside.

The back of the case is more of a standard panel. In the center there is a magnetic dust filter. If we remove it we can see a large ventilated section and two fans, which will get into once we open the case up. Towards the bottom you have your power supply mount and there is a pull-out filter for the power supply.
