Thermaltake The Tower 500 Case Review

Installation

This is a pretty large case so installation should not be all that hard. The case is designed a bit differently so you may need to consult the user’s guide. Luckily Thermaltake always does a great job on their guides and they are easy to follow.

The first thing we are going to install is our power supply. The power supply mount in the case is held into place by two thumbscrews. Removing these we can remove it from the case and install it on our power supply. With it installed on our power supply we simply reinstall it, making sure to route our cables down into the bottom of the case.

Next is our motherboard, again lots of room to work with here so installing any size of motherboard will be very easy. The standoffs are pre-installed so you just place your motherboard and secure it with the included screws.

You can also install your graphics card at this time. We have a smaller graphics card, but larger graphics cards shouldn’t be a problem either.

I decided to mount our SSD on the power supply cover, this allows us to sort of display the drive, which I like. With the power supply covers removed I can easily install the drive and simply reinstall the cover.

With everything installed it is time to route all of our cables. There are plenty of cable routing holes and it is pretty easy to hide all of your cables either in the base of the case or behind the motherboard tray. There are also plenty of tie-down points for the included zip-ties, but for our build we really didn’t need to use them at all.

With the side panels back on we have an extremely clean build. I would say you likely will need either some RGB fans or an RGB strip to really like up the inside of the case. There is also an opening in the top of the case so you can easily route your external cables.
