Thrustmaster T.16000M Joystick Review

Testing & Usage

I haven’t picked up a flight simulator game, let alone a joystick in over 8 years, so getting used to one again took me a little bit of time. After popping in the HAWX game, installing it and about an hours’ worth of play and I was back to being used to a joystick. I had no idea at first which buttons were which, so it also took me a while to figure them out.

Playing the free Tom Clancy’s HAWX game included was certainly a benefit and fun to play. I don’t own any games that I would need a joystick for, so it was a good thing this joystick came with a game to review. Flight simulator games are fun, but they’re even better when you get to shoot things, like HAWX.

My overall experience with the game was great. The ground graphics weren’t as great as they could have been, but that is to be expected out of an air combat game. The gameplay was somewhat difficult for someone that hasn’t played a flight simulator in ages, but it was all fun after the many attempts on missions.

What I didn’t like about the joystick was that there was no labeling of the 12 buttons on the base. You had to go through trial and error to figure out what they were or read the manual.

Conclusion

Overall I was very pleased with using the joystick. After not using one for many years it didn’t take me as long as I thought to get adjusted to the joystick. You can just feel the precision when playing the included HAWX game. While I only tested it with the included game, I would think that the T.16000M would be a great joystick for any flying style game or any other game that may require a joystick. Overall ThinkComputers awards the Thrustmaster T.16000M Joystick a 9 out of 10 score.
