Ubisoft Giving Away Assassin’s Creed Unity In Light of Notre Dame de Paris Fire

If you somehow missed it the Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral caught fire earlier this week and the iconic and historic spire collapsed and was destroyed. If you didn’t know the Notre Dame de Paris is in Ubisoft’s Assassins Creed Unity video game. And the Ubisoft team took hundreds of laser scans inside the cathedral to recreate it in the game. These scans could actually help with the restoration of the cathedral.

In the meantime Ubisoft is doing two great things. One they will be donating €500,000 to the restoration efforts of the cathedral. Next they are giving Assassin’s Creed Unity away free on PC, for anyone who wants to enjoy it.

Ubisoft said this in their blog post

When we created Assassin’s Creed Unity, we developed an even closer connection with this incredible city and its landmarks – one of the most notable elements of the game was the extraordinary recreation of Notre-Dame.

Video games can enable us to explore places in ways we never could have otherwise imagined. We hope, with this small gesture, we can provide everyone an opportunity to appreciate our virtual homage to this monumental piece of architecture.

From April 17th at 10:00 am to April 25th at 03:00 am (your local time) you can download Assassins Creed Unity on PC for free here, and you’ll own it forever in your Uplay games library.
