VooMote Zapper Overview & Usage
The VooMote Zapper is an extremely small device (0.81” H x 1.52” W 0.3” D). We received the black version of the VooMote Zapper, but it also comes in grey, blue, green, pink, navy, red and white. There is a small VooMote logo towards the bottom of the device.
Inside this small little device are four IR transmitters that will be used to control the various devices in your home theater setup. The VooMote Zapper uses the 30pin iPhone dock connector to communicate with your iPhone.
The first thing you are going to want to do is get the VooMote Zapper app for your device. It is free and can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store. Once you have the app downloaded plug in the VooMote Zapper to the dock connector on your device. We have made a video showing you how to use the VooMote Zapper, check it out below.
As you can see from the video above the VooMote is very easy to install and the software works very well. In the video you see me switching between the cable box remote and the TV remote. You can actually combine your remotes very easily. There is a wizard built right into the software that you can choose what devices you want to work together and it will build a custom remote for you, in our case it combined the cable box and tv remotes. This makes it so you don’t have the switch back and forth between remotes for an overall better experience.
Also you are able to edit the remote layouts. Just go into the remote and click the blue edit button at the top right. Now you can rearrange the buttons wherever you see fit. One thing that I mention in the video is that there is a very extensive list of devices, it had no problem getting the VooMote Zapper to work with my Sharp Aquos 42-inch LCD TV, Xbox 360, Comcast Cable Box and Western Digital Live TV Live Hub. Also if your device for some reason is not listed the VooMote can learn the remote by using the remote that came with the device.
