Final Thoughts
I had never heard of the VooMote Zapper before getting one in to review and after using for about 3 weeks now I am throughly impressed! The VooMote Zapper is the perfect universal remote if you own any iOS device. What’s great is that this device can be used on the iPhone, iPad and even your iPod touch! The VooMote app is free and can be downloaded from the App Store.
The App itself is actually very well done and is easy to navigate. I went right in and was able to add my devices without any problems and the entire process of adding my 4 devices took no longer than 10 minutes. The VooMote software has quite the extensive list of devices (one of the largest we have seen) so you shouldn’t have any issues getting your device to work with the VooMote software. If for some reason your device is not listed the VooMote Zapper can learn the device by using the original remote that came with the device.
The software also allows you to have multiple rooms setup (living room, office, bedroom etc) so you can easily organize your different rooms on the app for easy access and so you don’t have one menu with a ton of different devices. Also you are able to combine remotes like say your TV and cable box so when you turn the volume up and change the channel you can do it with one remote rather than having to switch between the remote for the TV and the one for the cable box. Overall VooMote App has been one of the best ones that I have seen to date.
Another thing I like about the VooMote Zapper is that it does not require an extra power source as it is powered by your iOS device. Devices such as the Griffin Beacon used batteries and that is just an extra cost and hassle. The VooMote Zapper is extremely small, which is good and bad. It is good because being so small it does not feel like this huge device on the end of your iOS device. But being that small it also makes it very easy to lose. This is not a device you are always going to have on your iOS device so you are most likely going to set it down at some point. It would be cool for VooMote to make a case version of the Zapper so you could always have it with you.
The VooMote Zapper sells for about $69 online, which is a great price considering this small device will replace all of your remotes. Overall ThinkComputers gives the VooMote Zapper Universal Remote Control for iOS Devices a 9 out of 10 and Recommended Award.
