The GALAX RTX 4070 OC X2 isn’t a high-end model; it’s more like the company’s attempt to provide a card at the MSRP. This dual-fan variant is now priced at 999 NZD, including taxes, which is even slightly less expensive than the Radeon RX 7800XT available at the same store.The price reduction occurred only an hour before the release of the Radeon card. Now, the most affordable models are priced at approximately $1,018.99, which is nearly equivalent to the cost of certain high-end RX 7700 XT cards.
None of the major retailers have adjusted their prices for the RTX 4070, indicating that this store’s offer is an exception and doesn’t represent the global market. Moreover, it’s worth noting that New Zealand and Australia typically experience higher launch prices. However, when it comes to the RX 7800 XT, it seems that you won’t find it at a more affordable rate, and PB Tech appears to be one of the largest retailers in the country.
Gamers should now have a good understanding of how the Radeon RX 7800 XT performs and whether it serves as a viable alternative to the RTX 4070, particularly given its lower price (although not necessarily in this specific case). However, it’s worth noting that the NVIDIA card is anticipated to undergo a price adjustment at some point, similar to what happened with the RTX 4060 TI 16GB, which is now in competition with the RX 7700XT.
