It looks like there is a pretty big shortage going on with NVIDIA’s recently released GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER. This has a lot to do with NVIDIA shaving off $200 from the original RTX 4080 and coming out with a card that is slightly faster at the same time. The $999 base price appears to be more reasonable for buyers as a new report says that “a week after its release, that GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER cards are not available at any major US retailer for online orders.” Also retail stores like Best Buy and Micro Center only have limited stock and you can only get those models in store (no delivery).
Looking on Amazon pretty much all of the MSRP models are sold out and the cheapest card that is currently available is a PNY Verto overclocked model. With MSI’s Expert Card and a Zotac Trinity Black Edition only having a handful of units in stock.
It is a very similar situation on Newegg with really only 1 model available (MSI’s Expert Card) and everything else out of stock or on back order.
It appears that NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 Super and RTX 4070 Ti Super cards are plenty in stock at all retailers. This shortage is currently only affecting North America as there are plenty models, even MSRP models available from European e-tailers.
