Acer has announced the new Swift 3 and Swift 5 laptops with Intel’s 11th Generation “Tiger Lake” processors. Swift 5 will start at $999.99, while Swift 3 starts at $699.99. Both models will be available from November 13.
Swift 5 is one of the first batches of laptops to be powered by Intel’s new Evo Platform. Some of the features include a 9-hour real word battery life, Wi-fi 6, Thunderbolt 4, Fast Charging, and the capability to boot up in less than a second. However, Acer claims that Swift 5 can provide 17 hours of battery life.
Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processors are offered in the Swift 5. The laptop weighs in at 2.29 pounds (1kg), making it heavier than its predecessor. As per Acer, Swifts 5 14-inch screen has a maximum brightness of 340 nits. The Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass covering will reduce odours and stains.
The chassis looks quite familiar. Acer carries over the fold-under hinge design. The design lifts the keyboard deck when the screen is opened, providing more area for vents to circulate air and quickly hiding a piece of the bottom bezel.
The two Swift 3 options are pocket friendly. The SF313-53 has a 13.5 inch 3:2 display and weighs 2.62 pounds (1.19kg). It starts at $799.9 and offers 18-hour battery life. Acer claims it can reach 400 nits brightness. The SF314-59 on the other hand has a 14-inch 1080p display and is weighed at 2.65 pounds (1.2kg). It will start from $699.99.
