ADATA DashDrive HV610 1TB USB 3.0 Hard Drive Review

Final Thoughts
When it comes to portable hard drives it is really hard to set yourself apart. At the end of the day most of the drives are the same. With the HV610 ADATA was able to not only create a unique looking drive, but also make it useful at the same time.

While the HV610 has the same shape as many of the other portable hard drives out there it distinguishes itself by having the cool puzzle design on it. Adding to that is the smart cover, which brings some color to the drive. This smart cover not only looks good, it serves as a holder for the included USB 3.0 cable. I cannot tell you how many USB cables I have lost over the years and the fact that I can carry the drive with the cable connected is a huge plus.

Since the drive is so small it can easily fit in your laptop bag or backpack. While most people will be connecting this drive to their laptops if you do want to connect it to your desktop the cable may be a little short for you. When it comes to perfect in most of our tests the HV610 averaged around 80-100MB/s, which is great and much faster than USB 2.0 speeds. The drive is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 so if a friends system does not have USB 3.0 you do not have to worry.

At the end of the day the HV610 is a great choice if you are looking for a portable USB 3.0 hard drive. The 1TB version that we reviewed today is selling for $89.99 at my favorite online retailer. Overall ThinkComputers gives the ADATA DashDrive HV610 1TB USB 3.0 Hard Drive a 9 out of 10 score.
