Setting up the ADATA SC740 External Solid State Drive
Just like any portable SSD all you do is plug the ADATA SC740 into an open USB-C port in your computer. Once plugged in Windows will automatically recognize the drive and you’ll be good to go. This drive will not only work on PC, but also Mac, mobile devices, Xbox and PS5.
The drive comes formatted as exFAT. The 1TB version of the drive has 931GB of usable space.
Performance of the ADATA SC740 External Solid State Drive
For testing we will be running the ADATA SC740 through a handful of different storage benchmarks. As a reminder ADATA lists the speeds of this drive as 1050 MB/s read and 1000 MB/s write.
Well now that was interesting, essentially in our tests we actually double the advertised speeds. After looking at other reviews of the drive they also experienced the same thing. It makes you wonder if ADATA either made a mistake in their marketing (and even on the box) or they sent us a different version of the drive? Definitely not complaining about getting double performance though!
