Final Thoughts on the ADATA SC740 External Solid State Drive

There have been so many times that I’ve thrown a portable SSD in my bag, but totally forgot the USB cable! ADATA solves that problem here with the SC740 external solid state drive as the USB-C cable is built in! So you’ll never be without it! Honestly this can be a life saver, especially if you are travelling.

The SC740 itself is a pretty simple drive as most external SSDs are. It is small enough to easily fit in your pocket, which also means it is going to be pretty easy to throw into a backpack or laptop bag. It is definitely made of plastic though, which I am not the biggest fan of.

When it comes to performance I was pleasantly surprised when the drive outperformed the rated speeds by pretty much double! As I mentioned I am not sure if ADATA accidentally made a typo or marketing error saying that this is a USB 3.2 gen 2 drive when in fact it is a USB 3.2 gen 2×2 drive or they sent us the wrong drive. It seems other reviewers were sent the same drive that performs like this so I am really unsure if an actual retail drive performs the same.

In any case if you are looking for a solid external SSD in which you’ll never forget the cable this is definitely it! Right now you can pick up the 1TB drive we reviewed here today for $74.99. Overall ThinkComputers gives the ADATA SC740 External Solid State Drive a 9 out of 10 score.
