ADATA SE880 Portable Solid State Drive Review

Final Thoughts

Once again ADATA has put out another solid portable solid state drive. As I’ve said in this review I’ve been a fan of these drives, but over the past year I retired my SE800 for smaller drives like the Kingston XS2000. Well with the new SE880 ADATA has made the drive smaller, about the size of a car key fob so you can practically take the drive anywhere with you. It has a solid overall construction as well so you really don’t have to worry about it getting damaged.

On top of the smaller size, ADATA has upped the speeds as well with a USB 3.2 gen 2×2 connection. The advertised speeds for this drive are 2000 MB/s read and write and in CrystalDiskMark we saw speeds of 2018.90 MB/s read and 1767.67 MB/s write which are very much on par with other USB 3.2 gen 2×2 drives we’ve tested lately. This type of speed makes the drive perfect for a portable game drive, video editing drive, and even a PlayStation drive.

The drive is currently selling at our favorite online retailer for $129.99 for the 1TB version, which we think is a fair price, especially since ADATA does include not only a Type-C cable, but a Type-C to Type-A cable. ADATA also backs the drive with a 5-year warranty. Overall ThinkComputers gives the ADATA SE880 10 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!

Pros:
– Small and compact
– Performance up to advertised speeds
– Two cables included
– 5-year warranty

Cons:
– None that I found
