AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT Discounted To Just $469

The AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT entered the market in September 2023, priced at $499. Featuring a complete Navi 32 GPU with 3840 Stream Processors and 16GB of GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus, its competitive stance was challenged by the release of the Radeon RX 7900 GRE in January, priced at approximately $549.

The competition, coupled with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 40 SUPER update, appears to have prompted adjustments in the pricing strategy for the RX 7800 XT, with retailers now offering it at more competitive rates. Newegg currently lists the Radeon RX 7800 XT for $468.99, marking its first significant price reduction. Interestingly, this offer is available through Newegg’s eBay store rather than its official storefront. This price drop positions the RX 7800 XT $30 below AMD’s suggested retail price (MSRP) and $50 below the MSRP set by PowerColor for their custom variant, the Hellhound model.

AMD has recently adjusted the pricing of the Radeon RX 7700 XT, lowering it to $419. In contrast, the RX 7800 XT has not experienced similar price reductions as quickly. This disparity could be attributed to retailers selling the 7800 XT much faster than the 7700 XT – with some German retailers reporting sales up to ten times higher for the 7800 XT.

However, the situation is shifting rapidly, as the 7700 XT is available for under $400 in certain stores, while the 7800 XT has been spotted at $480. This indicates a rapidly diminishing gap between the two. It seems AMD may need to reassess their pricing strategy to align with evolving market demands.
