A Reddit user has brought to our attention that AMD’s upcoming Ryzen processors have appeared for pre-order through AMD Shangai’s official Taobao channel. As always we tell you to take this with a grain of salt. The chip here is listed at ¥1999.00 (roughly $295), the process is listed at 14nm, and the CPU frequency is at 4.2 GHz.
We do know that there is no Ryzen chip that has that clock speed. If you remember at CES in January the Ryzen chips we were shown (engineering samples) were running at 3.6 GHz base and 3.9 GHz boost. It is completely possible that newer released steppings have bumped the speeds up to 3.9 GHz base / 4.2 GHz boost.
Our earlier reports said that the launch would be March 2nd, but it looks like February 28th is the new date. Once we can officially confirm this we will let you know.
